Water Tank Tower & Steel Stand Construction in Kenya
Engineered steel towers from 3 m to 15 m that give your building strong gravity pressure, even when the power is off.
An elevated tank delivers pressure by gravity: roughly 0.1 bar for every metre of height. A 6 m tower gives about 0.6 bar at ground level, enough for showers and taps in most homes without running a pump. For schools, hospitals, churches, and estates, a tower means water keeps flowing during power cuts. We design, fabricate, and erect towers on reinforced footings, then install and plumb the tanks.
What we do
Designed for the load
Towers are sized for full tank weight, wind load, and soil conditions, with reinforced concrete footings.
Fabricated steel stands
Square hollow sections, angle line, or I-sections, welded, primed, and painted or galvanised against rust.
Multi-tank platforms
Platforms carrying two to four tanks of 5,000–10,000 L, with optional solar panel mounting.
Safe access
Caged ladders, platforms, and guard rails so cleaning and inspection can be done safely.
Steel & GRP tanks
Pressed steel and GRP sectional tanks for 20,000 L+ institutional storage.
Complete plumbing
Rising main, down-feed, valves, overflow, and level switch, ready for borehole or county supply.
Water tank tower costs in Kenya
Complete tank-and-tower systems including footings, erection, and plumbing. Rocky or soft ground and difficult access add to the cost.
| System | 6–10 m tower | 12–15 m tower |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 plastic tanks (5,000–10,000 L) | 180,000 – 400,000 | 400,000 – 650,000 |
| 5,000 L steel tank | 250,000 – 380,000 | 400,000 – 550,000 |
| 10,000 L steel tank | 350,000 – 550,000 | 650,000 – 900,000 |
| 20,000 L steel tank | 900,000 – 1.4M | 1.5M – 2.2M |
| 60,000 L steel / GRP | 950,000 – 1.5M | 1.8M – 2.8M |
| 100,000 L steel / GRP | 2.5M – 3.5M | 4M – 6M+ |

How high should your tower be?
- 3–4 m: single-storey homes with a gravity shower and kitchen.
- 6 m: most bungalows and maisonettes. About 0.6 bar at ground floor.
- 9 m: small apartment blocks (ground + 2) and schools with ablution blocks.
- 12–15 m: hospitals, larger estates, and multi-storey commercial buildings.
- Above about 4 floors, a tower alone is rarely enough. We pair it with a booster set.
How it works
Survey & design
We assess demand, soil, and access, then size the tank and tower height.
Footings & fabrication
We cast reinforced footings while the steel is fabricated and painted off-site.
Erect & commission
We erect the tower, lift the tanks, plumb the system, and test it under full load.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a water tank tower cost in Kenya?
A 6 m steel stand carrying one or two plastic tanks typically costs KES 180,000–400,000 complete. Steel tanks on towers range from about KES 250,000 for 5,000 L up to several million for 100,000 L systems.
How much water pressure does a tank tower give?
About 0.1 bar per metre of height from the bottom of the tank to the tap. A 6 m tower gives roughly 0.6 bar, which is comfortable for most single and double-storey homes.
Steel stand or concrete tower?
Steel stands are faster to build, cheaper for most sizes, and can be moved or extended. Concrete towers suit very large permanent reservoirs. We advise after the site survey.
Do schools and hospitals need elevated tanks?
They benefit most. An elevated tank keeps washrooms, kitchens, and wards supplied during power cuts, and reduces pump running costs.
How long does a tank tower take to build?
Residential towers take one to two weeks, including footing curing time. Institutional towers of 12 m and above take two to four weeks.
